Live to Adventure and Adventure to Live
Over the past few years, I’ve slowly discovered my true passion in life. You know, the thing that motivates you to keep chugging along. It’s the soul of the goal you‘re constantly striving toward. It turns out, my passion is adventuring and my goal is to adventure in as much of the world as possible. Prior to moving to New York, three years ago, I had only left the United States once and that was on a visit to Jamaica. Since moving to New York, I’ve touched ten countries and three different continents. That’s just internationally. Domestically I’ve visited Vermont, Philadelphia, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Napa Valley,…
Just Keep Swinging
“Never allow the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game!” – Babe Ruth Life, in many ways, is like a game of softball. Sometimes life throws you the unexpected curve balls, sometimes you get the fastballs that you can barely see coming, and occasionally you’ll get the perfect pitch. We’re not going to hit every ball that comes our way. We don’t have to. All that matters is that we step up to the plate and keep swinging. Three years ago, I joined my company softball league. I should start by being upfront and honest about the fact that I’m terrible at softball. I’m terrible at any…
30 Things I’ve Started Doing Differently in My 30s
Face it, we’re not kids anymore and we no longer hold the pass of living in our self-absorbed 20s. Our 30s are about learning to be our best self and how to contribute our unique abilities toward a better world. I’m now 6 months into my 30s and in this short time, I’ve already seen major changes in my approach to life.
On Turning Thirty: “Here’s Looking At You, Kid.”
Thirty used to seem old and distant. I thought life would be robotic and the best of your adventures were years behind you. Little did I know! Now that I’m turning thirty, I feel like I just started living or at least that I’ve just learned to live properly. Turning thirty is the time when you take all the lessons you’ve learned and apply them to life. By thirty you’ve figured out who you are and you’ve learned to live with it. I turn thirty on Sunday. It does feel strange to know that I’m tipping my hat to my twenties. My god, had I known then what I know…
Euphoria or Misery: Trying Hot Yoga
Let me start by saying, I love yoga, but hot yoga was a whole other experience. I really do love yoga. It’s been a part of my life pretty regularly for 8 years. Some of the people closest to me haven’t been around 8 years. Some of my favorite things haven’t been my favorite things for 8 years. I’ve never held a job for 8 years. Just barely have I lived in one city for 8 years. Liberty, Kentucky comes closest with 8 ½. In a nearly 30 year lifespan 8 years is kind of a big deal. So to make yoga part of my life for 8 years says…
Appreciate the Colors: On Being Thankful For Your Blessings
This past year, the final year of my 20s, has been filled with blessings. There are no big or small blessings; they’re one size fits all. It’s important that you take a moment each day to pause and be thankful for your blessings. My blessings have been plentiful. In the past year I’ve traveled to San Francisco, Napa Valley, Vermont, Connecticut, Boston, Philadelphia, and Bali all for the first time. I’ve also revisited the lands that raised me: Cincinnati, Kentucky and Savannah. I’ve come to know more of the world, and in doing so, I’ve come to know more of myself. Counting Your Blessings ♥ I am a strong, confident,…
