    Chelsea is one of the hippest areas of New York. The well-known neighborhood is filled with art history, it was, after all, the original theatre district of New York City. It was also officially founded by Clement Clarke Moore who wrote The Night Before Christmas. Moving into the 1960s and 1970s Chelsea was famed for the rock stars residing in the infamous Chelsea Hotel including Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, and Janis Joplin among many others. Chelsea is known for being many things – gorgeous, artistic, gentrified – but mostly, Chelsea is just cool.     It was near the beginning of year two in New York the first time I really felt like a New Yorker. I was leaving my office in Midtown. As I stood at the corner of 50th and 8th Ave waiting for the crosswalk to turn in my favor I saw a man standing on the median.     In A New York Minute

    It was a rainy Saturday night. I was in my favorite red dress and shredded denim jacket, which after 13 years has become somewhat of a staple of my existence. I sipped a cold can of Brooklyn Lager and scarfed down fried chicken with two of my best gals. We were beyond overdressed for this local chicken hut at nearly midnight, but we didn’t care, it was good. Our laughter overpowered all of the other chatter happening throughout the restaurant.
